Hello. As I’m sure most of you have heard, the City of Minneapolis has a destruction project planned for Minnehaha Park. Basically, the plan is to put a damned highway right through the heart of the Oak Savannah that has lived in the park longer than most people have lived in Minneapolis.
The court battles to stop the mega-machine from destroying any more of this wonderful park have failed. There is a row of houses on Riverview road that are all empty, except for one, that are to be torn down to make room for the Highway reroute. The people who live in the one remaining inhabited home have decided to make a stand and refuse to move from their home. Earth First! Has set up a tent in their front yard in order to disperse information and build support to help stop the reroute. The tent is called Camp Two Pines and it is located at 5307 Riverview road. Please stop by and show your support. The only way to stop this thing is to get as many people as possible to demand that the City abandon their plans for a reroute of Highway 55.
You do not have to be a Minneapolis resident to come by and help with the park. Anyone who has any interest in seeing Nature win against the city should come by the park and the tent immediately. Time is short so don’t wait.
Directions to camp Two Pines: Get on Minnehaha going South from the Twin Cities. Stay on this road until you reach 53rd ave. Take a left on 53rd and the road will lead you right to Camp Two Pines. The turn is immediately after you pass a Holiday gas station on your left. If you drive by the Veterans Hospital, you have gone too far.
Hope to see you at Camp Two Pines right away. The Park thanks you for your support.
